William H. McGee

Brother McGee served as pastor of Homer Baptist Church from 1879 to 1880.

He was born in Noxubee county, Mississippi on November 1, 1846 and joined the New Hope Baptist Church of Winston county, Mississippi October 10, 1854. Shuqualak Church licensed him to preach in July of 1871. Brother McGee entered Mississippi College in 1872 and graduated in 1876. During this time he organized and became pastor of Mt. Pisgah Church. It was at the insistence of Mt. Pisgah he was ordained in 1874 by a presbytery of Edwin Pace, G. Gay, Jesse H. Buck and J. M. Nicholson.

In January of 1877, he moved to Minden where he served as pastor and soon after added Homer and Mt. Lebanon to his care. Our church started regular Sunday evening services under his leadership.

On November 15, 1877, he married Alice Martin. Brother McGee, along with J. W. Melton served on the first executive board of the Louisiana Baptist Convention .18
