Samuel Harris

Samuel Harris was pastor of Homer Baptist Church from 1852 to 1853. This marks the earliest written minutes still available for study. It was during his tenure the name of our church was changed from Ebenezer to Homer Baptist Church of Christ. It is probable he served other churches also as pastor during this time since the church met only two weekends per month at this time, usually worshipping on both Saturday and Sunday. During the time Brother Harris served as pastor, it was church policy to call the pastor each year, usually in November or December. 9
