P. Q. Cason

Brother Cason was the pastor of Homer Baptist Church from 1918 to 1921.

He and his family moved to Narmon Park, Georgia in 1922. Mrs. Cason was well-known for her work with children, especially Sunbeams, and was active in WMU work. Brother Cason was a very quiet man and little is known of him. Mrs. Ola Allen recalls only that he was very fair complexioned and burnt easily in the Louisiana sun. For this reason, he always employed an umbrella to shield from the burning rays when he was outside.

These were the days of the beginnings of the BYPU, a youth organization fondly remembered by many. This also was the time of the Homer Oil Boom and Homer Baptist church began to grow along with the town. In 1921 alone eighty-two members were added to the church, forty four by baptism and thirty-eight by letter. 34
