James Edgar Mateel Simeon
Dr. Jimmy Simeon was born June 7, 1944 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
and grew up in the small town of Frost. He received a Bachelor
of Science degree in biology from SLU then attended New Orleans
Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned a Master of
Divinity and Doctor of Theology with a major in preaching and
minor in theology. While in college and graduate school, he
worked as a truck driver. He was ordained to preach at the age
of twenty-four by his home church, Colyell Baptist Church, in
Livingston parish and soon received a call to become pastor of
Antioch Baptist Church at Tickfaw. He accepted the call and soon
had cause to notice the daughter of one of the members of the
pulpit committee. A year and a half later, on December 27, 1968
he married her. He is a regular contributor of articles to a variety of publications, including Student magazine, and Bible Dictionary. He is somewhat of a sports fanatic and estimates he has attended hundreds of baseball, football and basketball games. Dr. Simeon's motto is "Don't worry about the details, and it's all details!" Dr. Simeon is known for his thoughtful, concise, well reasoned and consistently excellent sermons. He and his family are valued members of our church. 47 Biographical Sketches| Claiborne Parish | AHGP
