D. Glenn Simmons

Dr. D. Glenn Simmons served as pastor of First Baptist Church, Homer from 1981 to 1986. He was born August 8, 1949 in Franklinton, Louisiana and was ordained by the First Baptist Church of Franklinton in 1976.

He is married to the former Sherry Smith of Arlington, Texas. He and his wife Sherry, a registered nurse, have four children: Jennifer, Jason, Glenna and Sandra. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from William Carey College and his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Theology degrees from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

He was called to First Baptist Church, Homer from Morgan City Baptist Church of Morgan City, Mississippi. He served as pastor of First Baptist Church, Barling, Arkansas and of Ebenezer Baptist Church of Bassfield, Mississippi prior to that time. After his service in Homer, Dr. Simmons accepted a teaching position at a seminary in Johannesburg, South Africa. He later served as pastor of the First Baptist church of Tempe, Arizona. Dr. Simmons has made numerous contributions in the field of Christian youth literature. 46
